This band is said to have derived its name from the legendary lost city of X, the city of the moon, built by an ancient Egyptian civilization, 2000 years ago in the Wilbur Smith novel, Sunbird.
Another possible source is the 'Beautiful' Feast of X (or X Festival), an Ancient Egyptian festival which was celebrated annually in Thebes, an ancient city in Egypt.
